Caffè Cagliari S.p.A. joins to the Consortium for the Safeguard of Traditional Italian Espresso Coffee, the association involving coffee roasters and companies connected to the world of coffee, born with the objective of safeguarding, enhancing and promoting Italian Espresso in the world.
The Consortium project aims to give to Espresso Italiano the prestigious recognition of UNESCO’s intangible heritage, which would guarantee greater protection for a typically Italian product. Espresso is, in fact, an integral part of the culture and the tradition of Italy, full expressing its uses and customs. In addition, the recipe itself and the preparation process for the authentic Italian Espresso includes the use of facilities born thanks to the italian intelligence.
The intangible heritages of humanity recognized by UNESCO are expressions of the world’s culture, which, unlike the heritage sites of mankind, are not tangible things but traditions or typical activities of a country. It is the assignment of this recognition to the Mediterranean diet, as well as Turkish coffee, which led to the birth of the project to get the inclusion of traditional Italian Espresso among the immaterial goods protected by Unesco.
A first step toward the recognition of our Italian espresso as one of the cornerstones of Italian culture and gastronomy, to be safeguarded and valued in the world.
